3/28/2023 – MPox Still In the News
A dangerous variant of MPox has been identified and found to be deadly to those with advanced HIV infection. It should be noted that persons with an undetectable viral are not at an increased risk of death. There is a 15% chance of death in individuals with a low CD4 count and a high viral load. Cases in London have prompted this warning.
It should be noted that there hasn’t been a new confirmed case of MPox in the state since Fall 2022. As a preventative measure, those who are HIV+, and not treated should be vaccinated against MPox.
